Forest Green Rovers – described by FIFA as “the greenest football club in the world” – set out to build the world’s most sustainable football stadium in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire.
We provided planning consultancy to help the club secure reserved matters approval from Stroud District Council.
Expert planning and transport solutions
Our work covered planning and environmental needs, with a strong focus on transport and accessibility.
We designed a new signal controlled access junction on the A419 with safe pedestrian and cycle crossings. A combined foot and cycleway connects the stadium to local and regional routes, giving fans a simple, sustainable way to travel. To support match days, we planned new bus services linking the stadium to Stroud and nearby railway stations.
These approvals follow earlier permissions for two training pitches and a temporary training marquee on the south side of the A419, now in use by the club.
A stadium like no other
With reserved matters approval secured, the vision for Eco Park Stadium is a major step closer. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the stadium will use a pioneering timber structure and sit within extensive parkland, supported by grass and all-weather pitches and modern visitor facilities.

This project is just one of many collaborations with the club and Ecotricity as we work together to realise the ambitious Eco Park vision.
