Planning Permission Obtained for New Homes at the Former Royal Mail Sorting Office, Gloucester

18 February 2019
On behalf of County to County, the Ridge planning team has obtained permission for a three storey extension to the former sorting office at Gloucester. This new accommodation will provide for 9 self contained apartments.

In submitting the application, the planning team had to address a number of issues relating to the principle of development, design, landscaping, efficient use of land, highways, residential amenity and archaeology.

With regard to principle, the planning team were able to argue that as the application site had been the subject of a prior approval application for the change of use from offices to a residential use, the use of the land for dwellings was acceptable. The planning team at Ridge demonstrated that the proposal represented an intensification of an existing brownfield site and provided a mix of apartment sizes to meet current and future needs.
