Project and programme delivery
Aston University is modernising its city-centre campus, strengthening its ‘urban university’ identity while creating a more connected and student-focused estate.
We have supported Aston’s estate strategy through a series of complex, high-value developments.
Delivering transformation across a live campus
We led project management and M&E design for the Pharmaceutical Labs, delivering high-performance clean rooms, specialist HVAC systems and teaching environments that work well from day one.
We also coordinated the £2 million Cyber Factory for the Greater Birmingham & Solihull Institute of Technology, a hands-on training hub simulating Industry 4.0 environments. Through design, procurement and contractor work, we kept progress steady despite supply chain issues and competing needs across the project.
Alongside this, we project managed the £55 million, 10-storey Business School through RIBA Stages 2 and 3, securing planning approval during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic and keeping momentum through a time of real uncertainty.
Our involvement spans the wider estate. We led the redevelopment of John Cadbury House to create a new home for Aston’s executive teams, and we are guiding the transformation of the University’s Main Building – home to 75% of teaching space – including demolition of the South Wing, a new accessible entrance, refurbishment of the Great Hall and a revitalised landscape strategy that brings the campus and the city closer together.
In parallel, we are supporting delivery of a new Energy Centre to advance net zero ambitions, and we are project managing the full transformation of 10 Woodcock Street into the future home of Aston Business School.
Shaping a smarter, more strategic estate
Completed schemes have strengthened Aston’s academic offer, improved day-to-day performance and enhanced energy efficiency. Current projects, especially the Main Building transformation, are reshaping the student experience and unlocking space efficiency across the estate.
Together, these interventions are creating a campus that works better for students and staff – cohesive, adaptable and ready for the future.
Future-proofing a civic campus
From state-of-the-art labs to campus-wide improvements, we are helping Aston University bring its estate to life, creating a safe, welcoming and connected environment that feels like a city within a city. Our integrated approach is shaping a future-ready campus that responds to student needs, supports academic growth and strengthens community links.
