Boeing Defence UK needed a high-performance facility at RAF Lossiemouth – a dependable base for nine aircraft and the teams that support them.

We delivered interdisciplinary design, alongside cost management, geo-environmental consultancy and project management, guiding the £132 million development from RIBA Stage 2 onwards.

Integrated design, cost management and innovation

Early estimating, lifecycle cost work and a two-stage procurement strategy gave the project cost certainty and a clear route through delivery.

Our BIM consultancy team introduced automated routines to check and validate fire rated penetrations for mechanical and electrical services, reducing risk through a simple digital idea that made a big difference.

Working with Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) and Defence Equipment and Support, we coordinated hangars, squadron space, offices, training areas and airfield modifications to ensure everything worked smoothly in practice.

A high-performance facility built for the future

The new facility provides more than 32,000 m² of high-quality space for maintenance, operations and training. BIM innovations strengthened fire stopping validation, improving safety and easing long-term upkeep.

Strengthening defence infrastructure

The facility enhances BDUK’s operational capability, supporting efficient maintenance and readiness. Smart design and practical planning have created a resilient aviation base that supports national security and provides a clear model for future infrastructure.

The P-8A Poseidon aircraft and its crews will be operating 24/7 to safeguard UK waters. This project is part of a long-term initiative between the UK Government and Boeing, which provides essential support to the P-8A Poseidon fleet in its roles of maritime surveillance, anti-submarine and anti-surface ship warfare based at RAF Lossiemouth.
