Midland Metro Expansion

Transport for West Midlands is expanding the Midland Metro through a multi-phase, £1 billion programme of new routes, depot upgrades and fleet improvements.

We have supported TfWM for more than 15 years, placing embedded project managers in key leadership and specialist roles across the Midland Metro expansion.

Embedded project management expertise

Working as part of the client team, we offered practical, day-to-day support shaped around TfWM’s systems, processes and long-term goals.

Our work has helped deliver major elements of TfWM’s investment in the network – from the Birmingham City Centre and Wolverhampton City Centre extensions to the Birmingham Eastside and Wednesbury–Brierley Hill routes. As part of this £1 billion programme, we’ve also supported depot upgrades and tram fleet enhancements, ensuring new and existing services work smoothly together.

Our contributions span programme management, sponsorship support, scheduling, risk management, interface coordination and quality assurance. We’ve navigated complex programme needs, supported procurement and fleet enhancements, overseen key infrastructure upgrades and provided strategic leadership in utilities and alliance-based delivery. In short: the work needed to keep a multi-phase transport programme moving.
