The Royal Borough of Kingston is retrofitting 66 homes to meet EPC C through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

We are acting as retrofit assessor, coordinator and designer, drawing on our surveying and building services expertise to lead assessment, design and funding compliance. The work sits within SHDF Wave 2 and covers a wide mix of homes across the borough.

Retrofit, backed by end-to-end expertise

We are delivering tailored external wall insulation strategies while navigating planning, building control requirements and fabric changes. Because the homes vary so much, each design requires clear, technically sound drawings aligned with Part L, Part F and the Building Safety Act. Many homes also need solar panels, which trigger planning consent because they change the building’s appearance.

To help homes meet thermal performance targets, we are carrying out airtightness testing and addressing heat loss issues early. Our retrofit team keeps the programme organised, coordinating everything from design deadlines to TrustMark lodgements. With support from architectural specialists, we’re keeping the process steady from first design to site readiness.

66 homes ready for retrofit success

We are delivering fully compliant assessments, designs and TrustMark lodgements for all 66 homes, enabling Kingston to unlock funding and move forward with confidence. The programme balances cost, regulation and good design, preparing each home for low disruption installation and long-term resident benefit.

Laying foundations for healthier housing

This retrofit programme supports Kingston’s Net Zero progress and gives residents homes that are more comfortable, energy-efficient and healthier to live in. By improving ventilation, air quality and insulation, the designs help tackle damp and mould, and reduce the chance of it returning.
