Health and safety

Clear accountability underpins safe project delivery. Our health and safety consultants help clients understand their responsibilities, manage risk early and discharge their statutory duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) and the Building Safety Act with confidence.

Structured, defensible decision-making

Legislation defines the minimum standard. We help clients meet those requirements and, where appropriate, adopt industry best practice that strengthens safety, resilience and long-term performance.

Acting as Principal Designers and advisors, we coordinate health and safety through the pre-construction phase and support structured design risk management. Because we work within interdisciplinary project teams, safety considerations are embedded in design, cost and programme discussions from the outset – not treated as a parallel compliance exercise.

Our advice is grounded in experience across sectors and building types. Through proportionate risk management systems, compliance reviews and site audits, we provide evidence that stands up to scrutiny and supports accountable delivery. Our ISO 45001 accreditation reflects the rigour that underpins this approach.

  • Planning and project strategy

We work with clients at the outset of a project to establish a clear and proportionate health and safety strategy. By understanding development aspirations early, we define the appropriate route through relevant legislation and set a structured framework for safe delivery.

  • CDM advisor

We provide competent, independent advice to support clients in meeting their duties under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Our guidance reflects current legislation, recognised best practice and the practical realities of construction projects.

  • Building Regulations advisor

We advise clients on their duties under the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations, clarifying responsibilities, interpreting regulatory requirements and supporting compliant, well-documented decision-making.

  • CDM Principal Designer

We undertake the statutory Principal Designer role under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, coordinating health and safety during the pre-construction phase. Working closely with designers and project teams, we ensure risks are identified, eliminated or reduced, and clearly communicated throughout the design process.

  • Building Regulations Principal Designer

Under the Building Safety Act 2022, we fulfil the statutory Principal Designer role for Building Regulations compliance. This requires demonstrable skills, knowledge, experience and behaviours to ensure buildings are designed safely and meet regulatory requirements.

  • Design risk management

We lead structured design risk management processes that record options considered, factors influencing decisions and residual risks requiring ongoing control. This creates a clear audit trail and supports defensible project outcomes.

  • Site audits and compliance reviews

We attend construction sites to audit health and safety performance and provide structured, independent reporting. These reviews offer objective insight and support compliance with CDM regulations.

  • Principal Contractor support

We provide practical support to contractors, including assistance with construction phase plans, risk assessments and safe systems of work. Our advice strengthens on-site management while avoiding unnecessary administration.
