Digital engineering

Complex projects generate vast amounts of information. Our digital engineering team brings structure and purpose to ensure it actively supports decision-making. From definition through delivery and into operation, we develop digital processes that reduce risk, improve coordination and keep projects moving.

Clear, applicable digital thinking

Our specialists work across the full lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure, establishing standards and building information modelling (BIM) strategies that reflect how projects are actually delivered. With strong data governance from the outset, our clients can be confident that systems remain accurate, accessible and trustworthy when the pressure is on.

We work closely with designers, surveyors, cost managers and engineers to keep models aligned and data consistent. Issues are surfaced before they become problems, helping projects move forward with fewer surprises and greater certainty.

  • Digital and BIM advisory services

We help organisations get more from BIM with practical and proportionate advice that aligns digital strategy with delivery – so it becomes a working tool, not a tick-box exercise.

By improving digital workflows and information standards, we facilitate coordination across disciplines. Robust processes and reliable data help teams resolve issues earlier and avoid unnecessary delay.

We also provide guidance on industry compliance and longer‑term digital planning. Whether they need clarity on current standards or a roadmap for what comes next, we help clients move forward with confidence – not additional complexity.

  • Information management

Information only adds value if it can be trusted. As information managers under the IMI Framework, we help clients define what data they genuinely need, then structure it through design and construction. Exchange information requirements (EIR) and BIM execution plans (BEP) are developed clearly and proportionately, so expectations are understood before work begins.

We work with consultants and contractors to ensure information is produced consistently and validated as it moves through the common data environment (CDE). ISO 19650 is applied with judgement, and data deliverables such as COBie and structured asset information are aligned with operational needs. The result is one version of the truth that carries through into operation – without unnecessary process.

  • BIM coordination

Coordination is where digital design truly proves its value. We provide independent model coordination to identify clashes and inconsistencies before they reach site. Rule-based checks focus attention where it matters most, aligned with programme and package responsibilities.

Through digital walkthroughs and targeted clash detection, issues are surfaced early and tracked to resolution. Model updates and reporting stay clear and transparent, giving stakeholders confidence that coordination is progressing and design intent is protected ahead of construction.

  • 4D planning

By simulating how a building will be delivered, we can optimise it. Our 4D planning links programme timelines to model geometry, creating clear visualisations of the construction sequence.

Temporary works, plant movement and site logistics can be incorporated, allowing teams to test scenarios and identify risks before they materialise. Stakeholders can understand phasing, safety implications and potential overlaps in ways that static schedules do not permit.

  • Digital fire compliance reviews

Fire compliance demands clarity and evidence. Our award-winning digital process demonstrates fire-stopping compliance directly within coordinated models, reducing uncertainty for clients, consultants and contractors.

We combine design expertise with advanced BIM coordination rulesets to automate checks on MEP service spacing and builders’ work openings. Outputs are itemised and aligned with Approved Document B, supporting “golden thread” requirements and creating a clear, auditable record of compliance through construction.

  • Data management and analytics

Large projects generate more data than most teams can realistically use. We help clients bring structure to that information, connecting systems and datasets so insight is accessible and meaningful – not buried in spreadsheets or platforms.

We design secure, scalable data environments that reflect how projects are actually delivered and managed. Advanced analytics and AI are applied where they genuinely add value, helping teams identify trends, anticipate risk and understand performance more clearly. Dashboards and reporting tools turn complex datasets into focused insight, so decisions are based on evidence rather than assumption.

  • Digital facilities management

Digital handover only adds value if it works in operation. We help clients turn BIM data and model geometry into practical tools that support maintenance, compliance and day-to-day building management.

Planned and reactive works can be visualised directly within the model, with certificates, test records and risk data linked to the relevant components. We also digitise existing estates through laser scanning and drone surveys, creating a dependable single source of truth. The result is building information that remains usable, current and aligned with operational priorities.

  • Application development

Some challenges require more than standard platforms. We design and develop bespoke digital applications that respond to specific project or operational needs – from streamlining workflows to improving reporting or integrating fragmented data sources.

Our applications are secure, scalable and designed around how people actually work, across web and mobile where appropriate. Development is iterative and collaborative, allowing tools to evolve alongside projects and business priorities rather than becoming fixed systems that quickly date.
